Job Title: Fashion & Design Tutor

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Fashion & Design Tutor to join our institution. The ideal candidate should hold a diploma or equivalent in Fashion and Design and possess significant industry experience. The Fashion & Design Tutor will be responsible for delivering comprehensive and engaging lessons, providing guidance to students, and fostering a creative and inspiring learning environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Development: Develop and update course materials, lesson plans, and learning resources in line with industry trends and educational standards.
2. Instruction: Conduct lectures, workshops, and practical sessions to teach various aspects of fashion design, including but not limited to sketching, garment construction, textile science, and design principles.
3. Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to students, offering constructive feedback on their work, projects, and assignments.
4. Demonstrations: Demonstrate design techniques, tools, and technologies effectively, utilizing both traditional and digital methods.
5. Assessment and Feedback: Evaluate student performance through assessments, projects, and examinations. Provide timely feedback to help students improve their skills and understanding.
6. Industry Relevance: Stay updated with current fashion trends, technologies, and industry practices to incorporate relevant information into the curriculum.
7. Collaboration: Collaborate with other faculty members and departments to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
8. Student Support: Offer academic and career advice, support extracurricular activities, and encourage students to explore their creativity and individuality.
9. Administrative Tasks: Assist in administrative duties such as record-keeping, attendance tracking, and participating in faculty meetings.
10. Continuous Improvement: Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay abreast of innovations in the field.

Qualifications:

1. Diploma or equivalent qualification in Fashion and Design is required. A Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is an added advantage.
2. Proven experience working in the fashion industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing design expertise and creativity.
3. Previous teaching or tutoring experience in fashion design, pattern making, textiles, or related subjects is highly desirable.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, faculty, and industry professionals.
5. Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
6. Passion for education and fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
